Duration : 1.15 Mins.Dr. Ye Wang, assistant professor of communication sciences and disorders recently received two grants from the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. Both are to benefit those with hearing impairments. The first award will be used to maintain an online forum in community practice for school districts and approved private agencies in Missouri for pre-K through twelve students who are deaf or hard of hearing. The online forum will provide an opportunity for individuals to engage in ongoing dialogue, information sharing, problem solving and resource sharing around topics of concern to educators working with these students. The second award is for the review and updating of three web-based e-learning courses in reading and deafness that were developed last year. The courses are for classroom teachers, reading specialists, speech and language pathologists and other professionals in the state of Missouri to learn about the most up to date information on reading development and instruction for students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
